Illustrations of Fishing Flies
In recent years, McKim had become well-known for his unique full-color fly illustrations in the following three series: "Great Impostor", "How To" and "One of a Kind"
"Great Impostor" series
So-called because the fly and — in most cases, the living model or models it is designed to imitate, or the species of fish it is designed to deceive — are superimposed in full color against natural habitat. The background shows factual information about the fly and its originator and explicit drawings of the sequence steps and materials needed to construct the featured pattern. View series >
"How To" series
So-called because the fly and the sequence drawings to tie the fly are shown. The monochromatic background shows factual information about the fly and its originator and explicit drawings of the sequence steps and materials needed to construct the featured pattern. View series >
"One of a Kind" series
So-called because the fly along is superimposed against a full color background. The fly's name — and its originator, if known — are identified. View series> |
